Obituary For Margaret L. Blocher

August 8, 1924 - February 2, 2017

Blocher, Margaret "Midge" (Hood) Age 92, on Thursday, February 2, 2017, of Brookline and Conneaut Lake.

Beloved wife of the late Carl A. Blocher; loving mother of Donna (Tom) Lauritzen, Patti (Mark) Koziar, Kitty (the late Mike) Redington, Carol (Mark) Fox and the late Suzie (survived by Bill) Ruffley; grandmother of Megan (Nick) Dolman, John McShane, Jill (Brad) Zimanek, Jodi Amoroso, Greg Lauritzen, Billy (Laurie) Streng, Suzie Redington, Michael Redington, Erick (Reagan) Redington, Christy Crowley (John) Duchak, Adam (Robin) Lockhart and Grant Lockhart; great-grandmother of 18 and great-great-grandmother of two; sister of the late Walter (Pearl) Hood, John (Flo) Hood, George (Betty) Hood, Lee (Chuck) Gallagher and Stanley Hood. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Midge owned and operated Midge and Carl's Pancake Parlor in Whitehall. She then worked as a cook at Mama Bear's in Conneaut Lake and finally retired from Wal-Mart at age 81. Midge loved music and books and was known for her ability to calm and comfort anyone in need. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday in Brentwood Presbyterian Church from 10 until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. If desired family suggests contributions to Alzheimer's Association - Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
