Obituary For Margaret L. (Bonura) "Nunny" Weiss

Of Whitehall, PA, died peacefully on December 2, 2020, at the age of 89. She was born in Brookline in 1931 and married the love of her life the late Henry (Bob) Weiss in 1950. They were devoted to their children, Daniel Weiss (Doreen), Mary Rose Rust (William) and Robert Weiss (Sandra). They were proud of their grandchildren Andrew Weiss (Stephanie), Sarah Leuch (Joseph), Kayleigh Lucas (Daniel), Michael Rectenwald (Melissa), Robert Rectenwald (Corie), Rachel Rectenwald, Daniel Rectenwald, Audrey Patterson (Jason), William Rust, Amanda Kupniewski (Sonny), Emily Immel (Benjamin) and 17 great grandchildren. Nunny showered people with love and lived to take care of others. She was fiercely devoted to her Lord and her family and raised her children to have a deep faith. She was quick with a smile, a laugh, a hug and an “I love you.” She made the best spaghetti and meatballs and loved to tell stories about her younger days to her “sweet peas.” Her New Year’s Eve parties for her grandkids were legendary. She always loved children, her own and others. She taught CCD at St. Norbert’s Church for 22 years. She babysat neighborhood children and grandchildren anytime she could. She was a devoted wife and homemaker. She always made wonderful meals and planned special outings and vacations for her family. She taught her children to love God, to help others and to live within their means. Nunny would look around the big family gatherings and say, “All this, because he asked me to dance.” She is reunited with her beloved Henry and is dancing again. In order to prevent further spread of COVID, services will be held on Saturday for immediate family only. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Pittsburgh Kids Foundation ministry to feed starving people in Haiti. When I first met Nunny years ago, she gave me the warmest hug right off the bat. Andy's grandmother opened her heart to me the minute I met her. Her love continued over the years and I cherished my visits with her like a precious gem. I couldn't see her and Papo as much as I wanted to since I lived so far away but whenever I was in Pittsburgh I visited. I loved to listen to her stories how she grew up, met Papo, helped raise the grandkids and her joy for life and her church family. I am filled with much sorrow and sadness and my thoughts and prayers go to all of the family.

I first met Nunny at a Retreat at LaRouche College Retreat Center. While on retreat Nunny told me I want your sister to meet my Danny. I want them to go on a date. Nunny told me they would be perfect for each other. Well Nunny you were so right. They are perfect for each other and God answered the prayers of your Mothers Heart and now you get to just rest in your Saviors Arms and smile down on all your Family. You are Loved.

I first met Nunny at a Retreat at LaRouche College Retreat Center. She told me then I really want your sister and my Danny to meet. I want them to go out on a date. Doreen would be perfect for my Danny. You called it Nunny. They are perfect for each other and your Mothers Heart knew it. God heard your prayers that weekend and many others throughout the years. Now you get to rest in His arms forever. Loved You. Kathy and Dave

Nunny, I am feeling very sad about you leaving the universe. Happy that you are in heaven with God and Papo. I enjoyed always being in your company. I regret I never saw your pretty house that I always said we would come and see. My loss. Think about you often and loved your smile that will last with me until I meet you again. God be with you. You are in my prayers.

Nunny we will always remember our swinging songs so we could spell our names, root beer floats at every family function, and family dinners. Love always and forever The Patterson family.
