Obituary For Margaret "Peggy" Krekeler Bechtold

Age 92, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021, in her home surrounded by family. She was born June 22, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was the beloved wife of 65 years to the late Fred Bechtold; loving mother of the late Michael (survived by Kathy) and survived by Stephen (Christy), James (Suzonne), Nancy (the late Jefferson) Cropper, David (Aileen) and Carol Lavin. Proud grandmother of 17, great-grandmother of 26; daughter of the late Richard and Agnes Krekeler, sister of the late Corrine (Bernie) O’Leary; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Peggy was a devoted homemaker, enjoyed a long career as a bookkeeper, and was an active member of St. Gabriel’s Parish in Whitehall, now known as Our Lady of Hope. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 6, 2021 in Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Church at 10:00 a.m. with interment immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marines Toys for Tots Foundation, at toysfortots.org/donate/or the Seraphic Mass Association, 5217 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201.
