Obituary For Mario J. Schwartz

Age 48, unexpectedly on Saturday, August 26, 2023, of Whitehall, formerly of Knoxville and Jersey City.

Forever love and life partner of Sam Owens (Michael St. John); son of the late Sandra Schwartz (Chemas) and Mario Ruiz. Mario will be missed by his Pittsburgh family: brother, Bob Farmer (Laura) and their children; Alyx, Matthew, Sarai, Elizabeth and Hannah; his sister, Kayla Chemas (Mike); and by uncles and aunts Butch, Debbie, Peg, Tim and the late Larry. He will also be missed by his Camden family: brothers, Mario AKA Junior Ruiz, Angel (Carmen) Ruiz, Manuel "Manny" (Agnes) Ruiz, Anthony (Keena) Ruiz and sisters, Marilyn Ruiz, Cathy (Frank) Lopez, Maria Rivera (Duane Fick) and Mirna (Larry) Hernandez. Also survived by countless cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. As per Mario's wishes, funeral services were held lovingly and privately. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date. Details will be announced soon. Arrangements handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227. The amount of love and support shown has been overwhelming and is so very much appreciated.     Mario was someone I always looked up to, he was always a light when he was around. He always made me laugh and I'll be forever grateful to him for throwing my friend group a prom during the pandemic in 2020. The end of senior year was hard and we were so sad to miss big events like this and he planned such an amazing prom for us. He gave us a beautiful close prom with friends even though it was a risk for him. He's forever a part of my life and I'll miss him dearly. I think about him constantly. Love you Mario and Michael
