October 10, 1934 - June 25, 2014

Barchfeld, Marion Elizabeth Succumbed to a long illness at Silver Sands Beach and Racquet Club, footsteps from her beloved white sand gulf beach in St. Pete Beach, Florida.

Marion Elizabeth Gertler, born in 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA, is survived by her husband of 56 years, Francis (Pete) Barchfeld. She traveled the country as a hockey and baseball mom and the world with her husband, making friends everywhere who will miss her dearly. Marion resided in Cleveland before retiring to Florida. She is survived by son, Eric who resides in Pembroke Pines, FL with wife, Tina and their adorable child, Kate Elizabeth, having Marion's middle name. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Margaret McGee and Kathleen Fandray and brothers-in-law, Charles and Ronald and their families. Marion was a charitable and spirited person who made friends with her outgoing personality wherever she went and will be remembered by her friends around the world. Marion was preceded in death by her mother, Marion ("big Mame" - Marion was little Mame) and father, Fange, a pilot killed in Europe in WW2, and brother, Robert. A service will be held at Mt. Royal Memorial Park, 2700 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA 15116, on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Everyone please meet at the Mausoleum. Arrangements entrusted to John F.     I am so sorry to hear about the passing of my dear friend Marion....a wonderful, caring lady. Earl and I shall cherish the fun-loving memories including Marion that were made every winter at the Silver Sands. Our daughter Karyn and our grandson Ryan (who Marion always called "her boyfriend") send along their deepest condolences as well. Pete...we know this loss is huge for you and the family.
