Obituary For Marsha Ridings Wicker

Age 76, of Pleasant Hills, on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, born in Lawrence, MA.

Beloved wife of 40 years to James Wicker; loving mother of Beth Farrell, Christine (John) St. Clair and James McKeefrey; proud Nana of Alyssa, Jack and Christopher; daughter of the late Wellington and Helen Brewster; sister of Susan Jane Brewster; aunt of Gabriel. Marsha earned her undergraduate degree and MBA at the University of Pittsburgh and had worked for SSI and Mellon Bank. She was known for her generosity and openness and also for her baking and cooking, which she loved to share with others. She enjoyed entertaining and welcoming people to her home. If you had just moved to her neighborhood, you received a hot meal or invitation to dinner. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, gardening, reading and watching Jeopardy and Investigation Discovery. She loved Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and the New York Times crossword puzzle. She was witty, with a great sense of humor and a big laugh! Marsha was an avid cat lover, had a toughness of spirit and faced her illnesses with determination and grace. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her memorial service at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to UPMC Mercy Hospital Rehab, 1400 Locust Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or the National MS Society, 1501 Reedsdale Street, Suite 105, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.

Thinking of all of you at the passing of your wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt; my cousin, Marsha. She sent me a lovely note with their Christmas card mentioning how she loved hearing from her MacElhiney cousins. We had a big MacElhiney/Brewster reunion at our home a few years ago. So wonderful seeing her and her family. From what I heard, she is dancing in heaven. Judy Reid

I met Marsha a long time ago, when we were undergraduate students at Pitt. She was a wonderful friend, a great baker and always willing to share her delicious "goods" with her friends. And, I will forever remember her fabulous Eggs Benedict. Goodbye my friend, sleep well in the arms of the Angels. Zita Reis

On behalf of the ENTIRE UPMC Spinal Cord Rehabilitation staff , we extend our deepest sympathy to the family at this time. Marsha holds a special place in our hearts. We never liked seeing her in the hospital , but always liked that she was with us on our unit. She was always , smiling and upbeat even when she was struggling. And her sense of humor was amazing. She will definitely be missed !
