Obituary For Mary Ann Seidel

July 3, 1934 - February 11, 2015

Seidel, Mary Ann, on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 of Brentwood.

Mrs. Mary Ann Seidel was born into Eternal life on February 11, 2015, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. On July 3, 1934, she came into the world as Mary Ann Garstka. She grew up in a loving and hard-working family on the Southside of Pittsburgh in the Borough of Mount Oliver. Mary Ann attended St. Joseph grade school and St. Joseph High School in Mount Oliver.

A life-long resident of Pittsburgh, she married Charles "Chuck" Seidel on October 8 1955. She was an exceptionally devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was an active member of St. Sylvester Parish in Brentwood.

Mary Ann will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and welcoming spirit. She was the consummate hostess of many Christmas Eve gatherings and Fourth of July celebrations! She had a warm smile, boasting engaging dimples, and was a terrific homemaker and cook.

Mary Ann is survived by her dedicated husband of 59 years, Charles Seidel, son Gary Seidel and wife Joan (Wallisch) of Pittsburgh, son Gregg Seidel and wife Christine of Charlotte, NC, three grandchildren- Chelsey, Kelly, and Nolan Seidel, and her sister Carol Shell of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Helen Garstka, sister- Alberta Golen, and brother-Sylvester Garstka.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 6-9 p.m. and on Friday, February 13,2015 from2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church at 3754 Brownsville Rd., Pittsburgh, Pa. on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Jefferson Memorial Park.     To Uncle Charlie, Gary, Greg and the extended Seidel family, Wishing we were able to travel to be with you during this this difficult time.
