Obituary For Mary Ann "Susie" Kestner

Age 79, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, of Canongate Apartments in Baldwin-Whitehall, formerly Arlington.

Daughter of the late Bernard and Irma Kestner; beloved sister of the late Joseph B. Kestner; loving "mother" of Deborah (Don Jones) Pannier; caring "grandmother" of Melissa (Dale) Borowski and Zachary Jordan; "sister" of Marian Fedak; cherished cousin of Sally Enscoe and Jean Kontos.

Mary Ann spent her life in nursing--from nurse's aide to RN culminating her career at UPMC head and neck oncology. She was a proud graduate of the Pitt School of Nursing and was certified in head and neck nursing.

After retirement, she devoted her life to volunteerism. She was an active member of the Blessed Trinity Ladies of Charity, especially the funeral ministry, the Christian Mothers and Guild, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Nurses Club and the Overbrook Women's Club. She was an avid reader, especially mysteries, and belonged to two book clubs at the Baldwin Library. Mary Ann loved to bake and her pies and orange fudge were legendary. She was a woman of great faith, her final act was to be an organ donor.

Friends will be received at the John F. Condolences

My parents, grandmother, and I were lifelong friends of the Kestners. I have so many fond memories of family gatherings with Bernie, Irma, Joe, and Susie first on Patterson Street and then Revo Road, surrounded by their love, faith, delicious cooking, and "penny poker". Susie is to be greatly admired for dedicating her life to helping others, both in her long nursing career and in retirement. She will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences to Debbie and all her other loved ones. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Susie and the entire Kestner family were great friends of our family! She was the best friend of my late sister Ginny and remained very close to us even after Ginny's passing so many years ago. We love Susie and mourn her passing. Rest in Peace my friend. Ron Kratofil

Worked with Mary Ann many years on the head and neck unit...she was an excellent nurse and I learned so much from her. I feel lucky to have known such a wonderful person. She will be missed.
