Obituary For Mary Lou (LuLu) Grasser

Mary Lou Grasser (LuLu), age 69, of Whitehall, passed away August 20, 2021. Born on January 16, 1952 in Pittsburgh. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Muraco. Beloved wife of John F. Grasser for 49 years; loving mother of Kristian (Matthew) Rutledge and Fred (Heather) Grasser; cherished grandmother of 5, Luke and Gabrielle Rutledge, Ben, Drew and Mia Grasser. Dear sister of Joseph Muraco, Judy Folino, and the late Gina Kobistek. LuLu loved to spend time with her friends and family especially her five grandchildren. She enjoyed watching all her grandchildren play hockey and skate. LuLu was very passionate about her position at Duquesne University in the School of Business. Friends will be received at John F. Slater Funeral Home Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road Pittsburgh 15227, on Monday, from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral prayer will be held on Tuesday morning at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Church at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Pittsburgh Office 2835 East Carson Street, Suite 200, Pittsburgh Pa 15203.

    My memories of beloved Mary Lou are many from he School of Business at Duquesne University. Mary Lou was the first person who provided assistance to me in my new career at Duquesne under Dr. Thomas Pollack. I will never forget her kind and loving ways but most of all the lasting friendships we built over the years. I express deepest sympathy to all of the Grasser family and offer gratitude for knowing such a great person and a wonderful family. May you rest in the eternal peace of God forever.
