Obituary For Melvin N. Ackerman

October 25, 1918 - February 21, 2017

Ackerman, Melvin N. Age 98, of Overbrook, on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

Beloved husband of 69 years to the late Johanna (Weber); father of Melvin R. (Joanne), Dolores A. Maloney, Ronald W. (Tomasine) and Patricia J. (Raymond) Lageman; grandfather of Douglas, Kenneth and Mary Beth Ackerman, Maureen Lynch, Brian Maloney, Thomas and Steven Ackerman, Michael Fox and Lisa Caruso; also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. Melvin was a member of Overbrook Senior Citizens and St. Norbert Parish. He worked for Allis-Chalmers and the U.S. Bureau of Mines, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Thursday from 2-5 p.m. and Friday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Saturday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Apostles Parish, St. Norbert Church at 10:30 a.m.

    Mel attended our Overbrook Senior Center everyday. He was a gentle, kind man who was loved by all. We will miss him so much !
