Obituary For Merle R. Brickner, Sr.

February 1, 1930 - May 14, 2014

Brickner, Merle R., Sr., age 84 on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 of Bethel Park.

Husband of the late Eleanora Brickner; dear friend of Libby Wood; father of Merle R. Brickner, Jr.; grandfather of Amy; and great-grandfather of two.

Merle was a Master Sergeant U.S.A.F. Reserves and retired after 30 years with active duty time in the Korean War. He was a Life Member of Air Force Sergeant's Association and the Anawanna Club. Merle was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge 2213, La Societe 40/8 Voiture 5 and AARP.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning in Ruthfred Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH

    Merle will be greatly missed by all his close friends at Leland Senior Center. He was a wonderful, caring man. Gentleman is the perfect word for Merle he was a gentle man, always joking and smiling. He attended the Senior Center everyday and called Bingo for us 3 days a week. He made a lot of friends and again, we will miss him greatly.
