Then, Michael J. On Saturday, December 16, 2017, Sunrise Senior Living, Upper Saint Clair PA, formerly of Baldwin Borough. Devoted husband of Ruth C. Rectenwald Then; father of Paul M. (MaryBeth) Then of Victor NY, Kathryn Then of Baldwin, Michele (Steve) Evanovich of Whitehall, Janet (Jeff) Walker of Bethel Park and the late Mary Jane (survived by Dave) Chismar; grandfather of Sara, Stephanie, Laura and Mike Then, Anna, Mike and Jack Chismar, Brenda, Steven and Karen Evanovich and Jessica, Ellen, Heather and Nick Walker; great-grandfather of Joshua, Ryan, Ian and Julia.; brother of the late Estelle Deroy. He married Ruth on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1958. He stayed firmly by her side for the next 59 years. Michael enjoyed time with family and friends particularly when playing Santa Claus. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1946, meeting regularly with class mates as recently as August 2017. He earned a BA degree from Duquesne University and retired as a Captain from the United States Air Force. He was a successful real estate appraiser, earning the designations of MAI and SRA. He formed CIR Appraisal in 1974 and held the position of Governor of the regional Appraisal Institute. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, 4-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Thursday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Apostles Parish, St. Albert the Great Church at 10:30 am.
