Obituary For Milan J. Vlha, Sr.

September 12, 1929 - August 7, 2019

Vlha, Milan James, Sr., age 89, peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, of Pleasant Hills.

Beloved husband of 65 years to Rita Mae Vlha; loving father of Kevin (Ed) Stiegler, Dee (the late Keith) Bogart, Milan Jr. (Nita) Vlha, Claudia (Rob) Richardson, Valerie (Jerry) Shaffer, Owen Vlha and Matthew (Sharon) Vlha; cherished grandfather of 16; proud great-grandfather of 18. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Milan served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member, past treasurer of the PHVFC, and provided countless hours of volunteer service to the Catholic Church, Covenant House, Jefferson Hospital and numerous other community organizations. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Monday morning at 9:00. Mass of Catholic Burial in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to The Covenant House, 733 Breakers Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304.

    Kevin, Dee, Milan, Claudia, Valerie, Owen, and Matthew, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I have posted some remembrances on the Legacy website. I am sorry that I am not able to be there to share in your sorrow! But please be assured of my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. God bless you!
