Condolences

I was very saddened to hear of Muriel's passing. I fondly remember the wonderful understanding and support she provided my family during the end of my mother's life. Muriel opened her house to my brother Joe and I as a place to stay when we were in Pittsburgh visiting and caring for my mother, Lena. Muriel could never do enough when I was her guest. I soon realized politely saying no to any offer of hospitality was futile. Most importantly I remember our conversations when I would return to Muriel's after often a long day at Lena's apartment. Over a bottle of wine, crackers and cheese, Muriel and I would laugh recounting Highgrove Road stories stretching back over 50 years. And there were some tears as well as we remembered those from each of our immediate families no longer with us. As a result of those conversations I gained an even greater appreciation of Muriel Storm. I will remember her as an optimistic and resilient person who possessed exceptional empathy for those around her. It is my hope that I can do better in these areas as a result of knowing Muriel. Finally, although I am sure you know this, Muriel was never happier than when she was talking about her family especially her grandchildren. Dave Sarcone
