Obituary For Nena C. Kratsas

Please keep the family and friends of Nena Kratsas in your thoughts and prayers. Nena was 76 years old, lived in Whitehall Borough, and quietly went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2021. She is survived by her beloved husband, Nick Kratsas. They were married for 54 years. She is also survived by their beloved son, Christopher Kratsas. Nena was preceded in death by her sister Theresa M. (Arena) Barbus and her husband Arthur H. Barbus; by her father Gaetano A. Arena and by her mother Nancy (Bonacorso) Arena. She is survived by her aunt, Ann Bonacorso and her first cousins Joe (Judi) Bonacorso; Anita (Grady) Bryant and Carol (Rob) Weiss, her nephew Steven (Arlene) Barbus and grandniece Emily Barbus and grandnephew and godson, Eric Barbus. Nena was a strong, talented and gracious woman who embraced her faith with a loving, caring and forgiving nature. She was a worship leader and organized the annual woman led Thankoffering service at Bethany Lutheran Church. She worked from the time she was 16 years old and was a member of the Honor Society during her years at Homestead High School. Prior to her marriage, Nena was the executive secretary to the President of Parkvale Savings and Loan. For those who knew her she will be greatly missed but her legacy will never end.
Public visitation is planned for Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church located in Bethel Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in her name to Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research at www.pancreatic.org, or to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center or AHN Cancer Center.
