They were married June 28, 1958 at St. Basil Church in Carrick and had four children. After graduating from Carrick High School in 1954, Nick attended Duquesne University where he received both his bachelor's and master's in music. He studied violin at a young age under Mr. George J. Along with a group of four school band friends, he was a member of the "Take 5 Band", a group of student musicians who entertained audiences during their high school athletic game intermissions. He also taught orchestra and band at Chatham University for 25 years in the summer months teaching strings, brass, winds, and percussion. He finished his music teaching career in 2013 after 7 years of educating students at Saint Anne's School in Castle Shannon. Nick was a member and violinist in the Carnegie Civic Orchestra and The Orchestra of the Alleghenies, formerly known as The McKeesport Symphony Orchestra from 1978 until 2013. He enjoyed golfing, attending the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Pops concerts, and was also active in his church, St. Pius X Byzantine Catholic Church where he was part of the fundraising team involved in making/selling their famous homemade pierogies.
