Obituary For Norma Jean Fischer

Norma Jean Fischer, at the age of 95, went to her heavenly home peacefully with loved ones by her side on January 4, 2024. Norma was born on August 1, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Elmer and Clara Isenberg and welcomed by her loving family.
She married the love of her life, army veteran Albert Herman Fischer (deceased) and was blessed with three beloved sons, Gary, Mark, and Scot. After Al died, she relied on her deep Christian faith and “Isenberg” stubbornness to continue to raise her three boys.
She worked 30+ years at Homewood Cemetery and played the organ at several churches every Sunday until the age of 89 at Concord Presbyterian. She was a talented musician and enjoyed playing the piano for others. She passed on this love and appreciation of music to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As a mother and a grandmother, she shared countless life lessons, back scratches, tomatoes from her garden, love of jellybeans and family, shopping at QVC, and so much more. She was the backbone of the Fischer family and will be greatly missed.
Norma is survived by her sons Gary (Linda) Fischer, Mark (Lisa) Fischer, and Scot (Gina) Fischer. Grandchildren Lance (Danielle) Fischer, Kendra (David) Cameron, Jessie Fischer, Brittany Fischer, Briana (Chris) Wellinger, Brandy Fischer, Craig Fischer, and Corey (Haley) Fischer and her nine great-grandchildren.
The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Concordia of the South Hills, hospice staff at St. Clair Hospital, and all those who cared for her over the years. A private memorial service will be held at John F. Slater Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to Concordia (concordialm.org) of the South Hills on Bower Hill Road.
