Obituary For Patricia A. Wert

A lover of all things plants, sports, lighthouses, and reading, at the age of 77, of Pleasant Hills, Patricia found her final harbor in Heaven on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

Having survived a tough life in an orphanage, as well as being a war bride during the tumultuous Vietnam War to Dennis, her husband of 56 Years, Patricia dedicated her life to her family and nursing a range of patients from young terminally ill children to finishing her career as a head nurse at Mayview State Hospital.

Patricia’s many sacrifices and devotion for her family shone bright throughout even the darkest times. Over the years these often included working late night shifts and still getting up every single morning, with little sleep, to cook breakfast and read inspirational stories before school to her kids Bethel (Wert) Coe or Beth, as she nicknamed her, and Stephen A. Wert, and later in life culminated in her generous giving to many worthy organizations.

Patricia’s favorite song, “Through it All” by Andraé Crouch starts by saying “I've had many tears and sorrows…” and as she would say, “that song best describes my life,"so sometime, when the storms of life make it feel like there is no lighthouse, give the song a listen it may help you too.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood 15227, Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 11:00 a.m.- Noon at which time a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the The Log Church 1540 Roseberry St., Pittsburgh PA 15216 to support their many vital and needed ministries.

Hi Beth and Steve, I have never met you or your dear Mom. But her obituary touched my heart as I have had a difficult life as well and I just listened to Through it All by Andrae Crouch and it was beautiful. My your dear Mother rest in eternal peace with her loving Savior, Jesus, and all of the angels and saints in heaven. And may Jesus give you strength, comfort and His peace. Debbie Sitko

My husband John (Jake) Sunday is her cousin. Patricia's mom and my husband's father, Charlie Sunday were brother and sister. Charlie (the youngest of the 4 children) and his sister were not close because there was a big age difference. We are pleased to hear that Aunt Gingy's daughter was able to have a good life once she became an adult. Our sincerest condolences to Patricia's family. Jake and Debra Sunday Mechanicsburg PA
