Obituary For Patricia M. Recker

May 20, 1927 - February 17, 2017

Recker, Patricia M. (Gustke), age 89, on Friday, February 17, 2017 of Brentwood. Wife of the late Roy C. "Pete" Recker; beloved mother of Ron (Ginny), Jody (Ron) Wells, Jeffrey (Deborah), Thomas (Denise), and Jamie (Nick) Scarlatelli; loving grandmother of Ryan, Renee, Katie, Dave, Rob, Jackie, Shane, Randy, Shawn, Brittany and Carrie; great-grandmother of Landon, Lucas, Levi, Avery, Addy, and the late "Toby"; sister of Jacqueline Aul and the late Ruth, Adrian, Eugene, Theodore and Joan. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was a longtime dance instructor in the South Hills known as "Miss Pat." Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Monday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Apostles Parish, St. Wendelin Church at 10:30 a.m. If desired, family suggests contributions to ALS Foundation of Western PA Chapter, 416 Lincoln Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15209.

    I found this poem my mother Patricia Wallisch(one of the infamous Club Girls)wrote many years ago - I thought I would share it with you. They were great group of women with a friendship that lasted a lifetime. We miss them so much. The title was Every Other Wednesday "Once I laughed happily...I cleaned furiously....I even worked my husband....It was my turn for club...even my kids knew...a night of special snacks and special desserts...now I miss those Wednesdays...the kids unable to sleep...as the Club Girls talked and laughed...and tried to play cards...in the by-gone days of an at-home wife.     I had the pleasure of knowing Patty at Paramount Senior Living at South Hills. Patty was truly a wonderful and sweet woman. No matter the day Patty would always have a smile for anyone she saw. Her sunshine will truly be missed.

    Sincerest sympathy on the loss of your Mother. I remember many get togethers of the "Club Girls" and talking with your Mom at various events. So sorry for your loss.
