Age 40, unexpectedly on Monday, April 5, 2021 of Akron, formerly of Pittsburgh. Beloved husband of Jessica (Shanks) Boyle; loving father of Caleb Patrick and Anna Rae; son of Dale and Mary Kay Chodor; favorite brother of Katie (Jim) Elk, Meghan (Chase) Campbell and Alyson Boyle (Brendan); grandson of Jean and the late John Dubich; son-in-law of John and Arlene Shanks; brother-in-law of Jennifer (Jamie) Colosimo; fun-loving uncle to 12 nieces and nephews and dog-dad to Myron, Chuck and the late Franco. Despite moving to Ohio, PJ was a diehard Pittsburgh sports fan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and enjoyed boating, being on the lake and attending Caleb and Anna's soccer games. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Saturday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Albert the Great Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held privately. Mask and social distancing guidelines must be adhered to. If desired, family suggests contributions to the ASPCA @aspca.org or Humane Animal Rescue 1101 Western Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
