Obituary For Randolph Scott Meyer, II

Randolph Scott Meyer, II “Randy”

Age 38, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed peacefully in the arms of his wife, surrounded by family on Saturday, August 19, 2023, after a courageous 10-year battle with cancer. The most loving husband and soulmate to Stephanie (Werner) Meyer; cherished son of Gabrielle (Perrino) and Robert Williams and Randolph Meyer; son-in-law of Maria (Gillot) and Scott Werner; brother of Krista (Alex) Busowski; brother-in-law of Scott (Gretchen) Werner; stepbrother of Zack Williams and Candace Diamond; grandson of Carol (Iannaccio) (the late Robert) Rozboril and the late Bettie Gillot, Patricia Werner and Theresa Meyer; special great aunt Charlene (Iannaccio) Hull. Randy is also survived by Godparents, Scott Bradley and Jennifer Perrino, many loving aunts, uncles, nephew (Clark), cousins and “The Godfather” to Savanna, Joseph, Mildred and Lucy.

Randy grew up in Hazelwood, PA and graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in 2002. He attended The Pittsburgh Fire Training Academy and began his career for the City of Pittsburgh as a Firefighter in June of 2007. He had a successful career and was promoted to Lieutenant in 2022. Proud doesn’t even begin to describe his feeling of being a part of this IAFF – Local 1 Brotherhood.

In 2002, Randy met the love his life, Stephanie, at the South Park wave pool, and they have been together since her senior year of high school in 2006. They made it a point to live and enjoy every moment to the fullest with God and their undeniable love for each other at the forefront. They traveled the world (18 countries), lived BIG and treasured their many trips to Italy more than anything else, even visiting the small town of Campabosso that his great-grandfather resided in. He loved his loyal dog Dexter and enjoyed their many walks. Randy made it a point to help inspire others to follow their faith by putting forth as many good deeds and charitable donations as possible. He lifted up others by helping them through their cancer battles and radiating an undeniable positive outlook on life.

Randy volunteered for many years as a football coach for the Brentwood Dukes Youth Football program. He played ice hockey in several leagues, including the City of Pittsburgh Firefighters team, and was a season ticketholder for the Pittsburgh Penguins for many years.

Randy will be remembered most as one of the strongest, hardest working and God-loving person one would ever know. He truly believed that the more good a person does, that good would then be returned. Not only did he believe it, he LIVED it. Spending time with family and friends meant the world to Randy. He will be so dearly missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.

Friends will be received at John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100. 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Thursday, August 24th and Friday, August 25th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8. A Pittsburgh Firefighters Final Salute Service will be held Friday evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Cathedral at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Randy’s memory to ACPMP – Appendix Cancer Pseudomyoxma Peritonei Research Foundation at https://acpmp.org/get-involved/donate. Please send condolences to www.johnfslater.com.

Our memories of Randy will be of one of the kindest and bravest men we have ever met. I occasionally walk a prayer and meditation circle in our backyard. I picked two touchstones before entering and the words on them were Kindness and Strength, which seemed really appropriate. We will be praying for Kindness , Strength and Peace for Randy and all of us in his immediate and extended family. ♥️♥️♥️
