Obituary For Raymond Benson

July 13, 1928 - December 4, 2016

Benson, Raymond Age 88, on Sunday, December 4, 2016 of Baldwin Borough.

Beloved husband of the late Dolores (Ball); loving father of Pam (Dan) Yeager, Judy (Marty) Eckert, Scott (Cindy), Mar (Jerry) Galiszewski and the late Darlene Benson; proud grandfather and great-grandfather; brother of Ralf, Berk and Bill Benson and the late Ward and Carl Benson. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Benson proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a radio specialist aboard the USS Coral Sea aircraft carrier. Mr. Benson had a long career with Kaufmann's Department Store in Pittsburgh and Mt. Lebanon. He was an avid and skilled painter creating beautiful portraits and realistic scenes. He also loved fishing and wood carving. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood 15227, Thursday from 3-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Southwestern Veteran's Center Resident Welfare Fund, donate.dmvd.pa.gov.

    I knew Mr. Benson from years of attending Whitehall church. He was an amazing man who I was blessed to have known. I will always remember him and his beautiful smile. I am very sorry for your loss, and my thoughts and prayers are with your family.
