Obituary For Raymond F. LaFrankie

Age 88, on Friday, August 28, 2026, of Brentwood.

Beloved husband of Dorothy (Grajcar); son of the late John L. and Susan H. LaFrankie; brother of the late John (Shirley), James (Nancy), Robert (survived by Sheila), William (survived by Yvette), Donald (survived by Dolores) and Mary Lou (Edward) Braum; brother-in-law of Michael Grajcar (Sharon), James Grajcar (Peggy), Mary Lou Brkovich (Steve), the late Esther Tomko (William), and the late Joseph Grajcar. Also survived by his sister-in-law and caregiver, JoAnn Grajcar and many loving nieces, nephews and their families. Raymond was a longtime, devoted member of St. Sylvester Church, a retired Vice-President of Real Estate for PNC Bank and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral prayer on Wednesday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Sylvester Church at 10:30 a.m. If desired, family suggests contributions to Blessed Trinity Parish, 3198 Schieck Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15227.

    As we often spoke. You had a great run. We enjoyed so many times in the 1950's and 1960's and then over the last 2 years all of the car rides and time working on your care. You fought a good battle. Even as things went down hill your attitude and faith came through in all you did. As you asked me on one of our last visits when I said " anything else I can do today? " and you said make a call, and I said who do you want me to call? Call the Lord and ask him to get me out of here. I need to go play poker with my brothers. I pray you're in that card game now, with your brothers with a drink, a cigar and holding 4 aces. I'll miss you. Nephew Tom

    It is difficult to put into words what a special person Ray LaFrankie has been to me and my family. Ray had a great sense of humor, (I loved when he laughed) and a warm way of making everyone who crossed his path feel welcomed and loved. Ray's selfless love for his family always came first. Hosting many family gatherings and showing great love and affection for all who attended. He and Dorothy made every holiday great for me, my children and grandchildren. Halloween and Easter were always the best times at his home. We were truly blessed to have known Ray, and to have called him our friend.
