Obituary For Rebecca "Becky" Barbush

November 17, 1981 - November 18, 2015

Barbush, Rebecca "Becky", age 34, on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, due to cardiac complications. Daughter of Dan and Pat Barbush of Squirrel Hill, she was born on November 17, 1981 sharing her father's birthday; sister of Andrew, Steven, Rachael Burgunder and Bridget Matthews; godmother and aunt of Sam Burgunder and Weston Matthews; loving aunt of Alicia Matthews and Max Burgunder; niece of Michael Barbush, Jr., Jacqueline Colligan of Houston, TX and Barbara Toborg of Broad Channel, NY. Becky was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia at the age of six and had a difficult but full and rewarding life earning degrees in Jouralism and English from Duquesne University where she was a sister in the Gamma Sigma Sigma service sorority. She loved fashion, travel and was a Pittsburgh sports fanatic. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Monday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to FA Research @curefa.org.

    Dan and Pat, Our prayers and thoughts go out to you on the loss of your daughter, Becky. We were saddened to see her death notice in our local paper.
