Obituary For Rebecca Elizabeth (Norton) Lindner

Age 70, on Thursday, March 2, 2023, of Bethel Park.

Rebecca Elizabeth (Norton) Lindner passed peacefully and surrounded by family on March 2, 2023, at the age of 70, after battling kidney disease and amyloidosis in recent years. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Richard H. Lindner; two children, Pamela (Richard) Ason and Greg (Jen) Lindner; three grandchildren, Will and Sydney Ason and Travis Lindner; as well as four brothers and sisters, Thomas Norton, Rev. Mary Norton, Scott Norton, and Candace Belako.

Rebecca (Becky) was born in Pittsburgh to parents Thomas W. Norton and Mary Jane Norton, nee Christerson and graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School. She attended Thiel College, where she and Richard (Rich) met, then completed cosmetology school at Uniontown Beauty Academy in 1981. Over the years, Becky lived together with Rich and their children in Uniontown, Brentwood and, ultimately, Bethel Park for the past 33 years.

Becky worked in the beauty industry for over 30 years as a professional hairstylist and in the beauty supply business before leaving the profession to assist in her husband’s law practice. Throughout her time working, she provided tender loving care to her family and home and was an amazing family “chef”.

Becky had a passion for bird watching and loved animals, especially cats. She enjoyed reading, music, exercise and travel, particularly to the beach, where she and Rich spent many of their vacations. Becky was a faithful member of Ruthfred Lutheran Church and always put the needs of others first.

A public memorial visitation will be held at John F. Slater Funeral Home, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15227 on Saturday, March 11, from 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., followed by a private family visitation from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. later that day. A private memorial service will be held at the conclusion of the afternoon visitation, followed by a private interment at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Baldwin.

Donations can be made in Becky’s name to Ruthfred Lutheran Church (ruthfred.org), the National Kidney Registry (NKR.org), the National Kidney Foundation (kidney.org) or Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh (humaneanimalrescue.org). Special thanks go out to those friends and family members who engaged in testing with the hope of helping Becky as a kidney donor.

God's Garden God looked around his garden And He found an empty place. And then He looked down upon the earth. And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you, And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering. He knew you were in pain, He knew that you would never Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, And the hills were hard to dimb, So He closed your weary eyelids, And whispered "Peace be thine." It broke our hearts to lose you. But you didnt go alone. For part of us went with you, The day God called you home.

Rich and Family, I am so sorry to hear about Becky. Such a sweet lady! My prayers are with you all at this difficult time. You were always so nice and one of our favorite families at Dr. Smiga's office where I worked. God bless you all.
