Obituary For Remo Vello, Jr.

Age 71, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, surrounded by family.

With unwavering and steadfast loyalty, love, and dedication, Remo was an extraordinary husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. With a personality larger than life, Remo would tackle any project, no matter the size or complexity, with passion and precision. Remo has been instrumental in the lives of many; guiding, directing, and supporting in all ways. He positively impacted the thoughts, actions, and future of all in his presence. Remo served as an inspiration and champion to his loving wife, Bonnie (McGinnis) Vello, his adoring children: Jennifer Daurora (husband, Lenny Chan); Laura Vello, Matthew Vello (wife, Kathleen); beloved grandson, Holden Chan; and compassionate and dedicated sister, Maria “Joey” Vello. Jolene, Remo and Bonnie’s treasured Labrador, brought Remo special joy. Remo applied nicknames to those he cherished, and these monikers will endure as we reflect fondly on his unrelenting devotion, reliability, and immense heart. All will smile as we fondly recall him saying, “never let the truth stand in the way of a good story” as he made the room laugh. In addition to his immediate family, Remo is survived by his sisters: Marlene Fabich, Marjorie Dougherty, Renee Kaley, Wendy Vello; and supportive sisters-in-law. Preceding Remo in eternal life were his parents, Lena and Remo Vello, Sr., sister Eufrasia Vello, as well as his trusted pet, Maya. Remo will remain ingrained in our lives. His influence has been transformational and transcends
time. A true source of stability and dependability, Remo was always available to assist, console, and give selflessly. Remo’s work ethic was unparalleled as evidenced by his long and dedicated career, always going above and beyond for his customers, who he also considered his friends. A private, intimate, celebration of life will be held in honor of Remo. Arrangements handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227. In lieu of flowers, if you are so inclined, please consider making contributions to either the Animal Friends Therapets Program or the South Hills Interfaith Movement, in memory of RemoVello, as these are both organizations he supported. Also, as you reflect on Remo, remember him as the selfless, strong, and loving man we all adored.

My deepest sympathy to Bonnie and family. I did not meet or know Mr. Vello. But working for Bonnie and The McGinnis Sisters family was indeed a honor and privilege. God bless the Vello family. Don Esswein.

Kim and I lived next to Remo for many years. Remo would always wave and smile while both of us would be cutting grass. He always kept busy and enjoyed working. Kim and I offer our condolences. Kim and Glenn Duda.
