Of Brentwood, on Saturday, May 7, 2022.Husband of 50 years to Diane Marie (Boeggeman) Bender; loving father of Pam (Jeff) Balkovec and Richie (Tiffany) Bender; cherished grandfather of Abby and Alexis Balkovec, and Diora, Viana and Anesa Bender; brother of Darlene (Pete) Bonura, Albert (Carol) Bender, Wayne (Linda) Bender and Bonnie (Dan) Gribbin; predeceased by his parents, Irene and Albert Bender. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Rich proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1970 (Grade E-5 with an Honorable Discharge) spending 2 years on Okinawa 1968-1970. Richard worked and retired from Mitsubishi. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0760 in Bethel Park and was a councilman for the Borough of Brentwood. His favorite things were cheeseburgers, chocolate chip cookies, trips to Disney World but most of all, his five granddaughters. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Thursday morning at 9:45.
