Age 93, on Thursday, May 1, 2014 of Brentwood.

Beloved wife of the late F. Albert Schuster; loving mother of Edward (Janet) Schuster, Joseph (the late Janet M.) Schuster and Mary Lou (Jack) Felbinger and the late Janet Basinski; mother-in-law of Ken Basinski; daughter of the late Leo and Catherine (Corcoran) Schertzinger; sister of Catherine (the late Robert B.) Hester, Mary (Jack) Krieger, the late Irene Bench and Ruth (Sam) Mazzeo; sister-in-law of Leonard Bench; grandmother of Connie (Greg) Johnston, Michael Basinski, Michelle (Jose') Kiester, Scott (Rachel), Jessica (Justin Papariello), Maura, Andrew (Dominique) and Emily Schuster, Mark (Jennifer) Felbinger, and Matthew Felbinger; great-grandmother of Ryan, Adam and Abigail Johnston, Toni Basinski, Tyler and Ava Kiester and Cameron and Scarlett Schuster. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral prayer on Monday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Wendelin Church at 10:00 a.m. If desired, family suggests contributions to St. Wendelin Church Debt Reduction, 2728 Custer Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15227.

    My deepest sympathy on the passing of Rita. I shared many St Wendelin Choir performances with her before I moved to Georgia. Her voice can now join the choir or angels.. May she now rest in peace.

    We're so sorry to hear of aunt Rita's passing. We recall the pleasant and lively conversation that we had with her at this past year's Schertzinger reunion. What a gem of a lady! She'll certainly be missed. Regrettably, we won't be able to make the services personally, but will be there in spirit. Our thoughts, prayers and love go out to the family.
