Dear Ruth, I was so sorry to read your husband's obituary in the Post Gazette! Dear Ruthie, how are you doing? So sorry that I missed seeing you run by at the marathon in Squirrel Hill this past year. I will remember that all of us at Bradford School thought Bob was as handsome as Frank Sinatra 🙂 I will always remember how much I admired the way you spoke about Bob and what a great marriage that you two shared. Back in the 80's you were a endearing role model for us in so many ways. With all my heart, Julie Zumpano Webb

Dear Ruth- Bob was an 'all around good guy" who I met in High School. He was friendly, honest and a gentleman. I have fond memories of our High School days. You could not mention Bob's name without mentioning Perry's name as they were our inseparable basketball stars; he was a good player. I remember another time the school was closed due to snow and some of our classmates, including Bob, walked from school to the country club to go sledding- stopping at my house to get warm- what a fun day we all had. More recently, I enjoyed catching up with you and Bob at the school reunions - talking about our High School days, times at the Brentwood Women's Club, and the paths life has taken us. Bob will be missed. God will help you through this sad time of life.- Joyce Wendell Sternagel- Class of '46

Dear Ruth, Leslie and Robert Jr. I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I started to work at Alling and Cory after high school in 1956 in the accounting department. A year later I enlisted in the U. S. Army, after 3 years I returned to A & C and was put in the sales promotion .Department. Not sure of the year but Bob worked in the out of town customer area. He ate his lunch upstairs in the lunch room. I can remember the nice lunch you packed for him even the orange was pealed. That was nice. Bob helped me a lot with my learning in Sales Promotion. When I was promoted to Customer Service and Bob was on the road I would talk to some of his loyal customers. Bob wanted me to meet face to face with some of these customers and was the start of a good idea. He got the ok from the General Manager, Your Bob was quite a character, He picked me up one day in a snowstorm in his Volkswagen Beetle and in 6 inches of snow, Bob wasn't taking a snow day, we were going to Uniontown, Pa. I still can see him now watching the road and he had a Tossle cap pulled down over his ears. The meetings were successful. Another day the VW came back to haunt us, we were calling on a steel mill and the guard didn't like foreign cars, so we had to leave the Beetle and walk in. So many stories and what a great Guy, Friend and later Boss. Now one year at the old building on the North Side Our teamsters were on strike and picketing. We were all inside and at lunch time Bob said let's cross the bridge and go in the 5 & 10 and all buy a Halloween mask, it was October. We put them on outside the store and walked back across the bridge with them on. When we crossed the line to go in they laughed and didn't know who was who, when we came inside we walked to the rear windows with the masks on and made some goofy gestures and they laughed at us. At the new building in Woods Run when Bob became the General Manager he called me in to see the card you guys sent him. It was out of the envelope and said open

Dear Ruth, Leslie and Robert Jr., I am very sorry for your loss of a Husband and Father. I started to work at Alling and Cory in 1956 in the accounting department. A year later I decided to enlist in the U. S. Army. After a 3 year tour I returned to A & Cto work in the sales promotion department. Not sure of the year when I firs met Bob but he worked with the out of town sales. He ate his lunch upstairs in the lunch room on the second floor. I remember seeing his lunch you packed for him even peeling the orange was nice. Bob helped me a lot with my job in Sales Promotion and how to get things done. I moved on to the inside sales dept and when Bob was on the road I talked to a lot of his customers. One day he said he was going to talk to Jim Dixon (the general manager at the time) to get an ok for me to go with Bob to call on some of his loyal Customers.Your Bob was quite a character. He picked me up in his Volkswagen Beetle and we had about 6 inches of snow and it was still coming down. No snow day for Bob we were on our way to Uniontown, Pa. he was so funny I can see him now with a tossle cap pulled down over his ears, I think I was 21 so he must have been 31. Those customer meetings went well. Another day out to Wheeling Steel the VW let us down, the guard wouldn't let us pass he didn't like foreigen cars and we had to walk in.So many stories and what a great guy, friend and later Boss. Now one year still at the old building we had a tramster strike on our hands and it was lunch time and Bob was being funny and he said lets cross the bridge and get some Halloween Masks in the 5 and 10 store, it was October. We wore them back across the bridge and the teamsters laughed, they didn't know who was who. When we were at the New Building in Woods Run and Bob got the General Manager Job he called me into his office and said look at this. It was a card you guys sent and when you open the card it played HAIL TO THE CHIEF. Now Bob was the General Manager. One afternoon he

May the Family find some comfort with the words of Jesus Christ found in John 5:28,29 about where he is here giving each of you a promise about him resurrecting ones who have died back to life again and then they will all be able to live forever on this earth as the Bible promises us all in Psalm 37:29 which says:The righteous will possess the earth and they will live forever on it. So may these words bring an everlasting feeling of comfort and hope for the future when all of you will be able to welcome him back into your arms again to hold and to cherish forever and so go to JW.org to find out more about what other promises does the Bible reveal to you about the future.
