Obituary For Robert E. Butler

Butler, Robert E. “Bob”
Age 64, of Pittsburgh's Allentown neighborhood, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

Bob was born November 30, 1958 to the late James and Helen (Militzer) Butler. Cherished father of Tracy (David) Schroyer, Nicole (Zac Donehue) Butler and Robert D. Butler; adoring grandfather to Brianna, Ethan, Emma and Elliot; dear brother of Kathleen (the late James) Schmaderer, David (Debra) Butler, Barbara Butler, Daniel (Michelle) Butler and the late James (survived by Antoinette Paga) Butler, Susan (survived by Anthony) Eperthener and Gerald (survived by Colleen Dearolf) Butler. Bob is also survived by his former spouse Darnell (Thomas) Butler, his long-time friend Terri Old and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Alongside his father, Bob co-owned and operated Butler TV in Allentown. He had a passion for softball and played in various leagues throughout the Pittsburgh area. He will be missed dearly. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Blessing Service will follow at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the Butler family requests donations be made to The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation, 44 S. 9th St., Pittsburgh, PA 15203 or Light of Life Rescue Mission, 234 Voeghtly St., Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

    It has been said that you cannot choose the family you are born into, but you can choose your friends. I first met Bobby Butler on a softball field and my first impression was that this man was a student of the game and he seemed to glide through the air when he ran. In recent times Bob and I would talk about his struggles and we would pray together.
