Obituary For Robert J. Zabielski

October 12, 1927 - September 30, 2016

Zabielski, Robert J. Age 88, on Friday, September 30, 2016, of Baldwin Boro, formerly of Sharpsburg and Polish Hill.

Son of the late Robert Anthony and Stella (Dobies) Zabielski; husband of 63 years to Alice S. (Stinely), formerly of Johnstown; father of six children, Mary Zabielski (Paul Riordan), Ellen (Nick) Gozik of Webster, NY, Richard (Ruth), Robert (Rita) of Westborough, MA, Thomas (Debbie) and Regis of Erie; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brother of Irene Matesic and the late Teresa Kushner. Robert was a graduate of Immaculate Heart GS, Central Catholic HS, Artillery OCS Class 178 and University of Pittsburgh (BS-1952). He was a Bibliographer at Gulf Labs, Technical Writer at Bettis Atomic Power Lab and a Marketing Communications Manager at Westinghouse Process Control Division. He was also a Charter Member and past president, Pittsburgh Chapter, Society for Technical Communication and a past member of 773d FA BN (US Army Reserve). Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Monday from 2-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Tuesday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sylvester Church at 10:00.

    I feel so honored and blessed to have known such an amazing man. Granddad truly was the kindest and one of the most intelligent men I have ever. His love and pride for his wife and family was so heartwarming. He truly will be missed by so many, I know I certainly will miss our lunches Mark and I had with Grammy and Granddad with our kids. He always had a way of making my son and I feel welcomed. Heaven truly has gained a special angel. Godspeed Granddad.
