Obituary For Ronald P. Gutowski

GUTOWSKI, RONALD P., age 64, of Baldwin Borough, peacefully on May 14. Loving father of Hannah Gutowski (Dan LaPlace), Sarah (Matt) Lighthart, and Christopher (Krista) Gutowski; proud Pap of grandsons, Maddox James Lighthart and Jack Ronald LaPlace. Also survived by his former wife and loving friend, Linda Gutowski; siblings Richard (Judy) Gutowski, Barbara (Rick) Kraynak, and Karen Gutowski; and many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Gutowski, Sr. and Virginia (Zarewczynski) Gutowski, and his faithful dog, Jodi. After graduating from Baldwin High School in 1976, Ron joined the 171st Air Refueling Wing of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard where he later became a Boom Operator. He retired from Fazio Mechanical Services in Sharpsburg. Ron valued his friendships along the way, lifelong friends from Irene Lane and Bench Drive, military friends, and new friends. He was quick to strike up a conversation with anyone. Ron’s fierce love of family, quick wit, and dry sense of humor were just a few of the qualities that made him so special. Ron was happiest at the beach with his family, spending hours planning and nurturing his park-like flower garden, and watching Pitt football and basketball. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral prayer Wednesday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Albert the Great Church, at 10:30 am. If desired, family suggests contributions to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.

So Sorry for your loss, I've known Ron (GUT) my whole life, He grew up on Irene Lane and I grew up on Bench Drive. There was always plenty of friendly competition between the two streets. I live in Phoenix now so I will not be able to attend the funeral. But my thoughts and prayers will be with Ron's family. RIP GUT Steve Zandier
