Obituary For Ronald R. Zawacki

Age 77, of Baldwin Borough, passed on April 18, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Linda (Lucas) Zawacki whom he cherished every day. The love, kindness, and patience they both had for one another was immeasurable. In addition to his beloved wife, Linda, Ron is survived by his loving children Rhonda (Bill) Dees, Renee’ (Patrick) Kinavey, and Ron(Misty) Zawacki, and the brightest lights of his life, his grandchildren, Bill (Jessica) Dees, Jason (Courtney) Dees, Matthew (Amber) Dees, Ryan (Autumn) Kinavey, Dylan Kinavey, Peyton Kinavey, and Logan Dees. He was the adored Great Pap to Lily Dees, and he was excitedly awaiting for his next great grandchild, Aubrey, to arrive in June. Ron was extremely close to his children and grandchildren. His patience and kindness are hard to describe with words because they were such deep, genuine, and innate traits of his. Ron is also survived by his sisters, Carol (the late Frank) Miskevich and Karin Donaldson, sister-in-law Victoria (the late Kenneth) Zawacki, sister-in-law Noreen (the late Thomas) Fuchs, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Irene (Kaylo) Zawacki, and his dear brother, Kenneth, whom he missed every day of his life, as well as, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Noreen and Edward Lucas, brothers-in-law, Edward “Butch” Lucas (the late Nancy), Kenny Lucas, David Lucas, and nephew, Kenny Lucas. What a beautiful reunion it will be for all of them! Ron enjoyed going to North Carolina every summer with his family for decades, and to Ocean City, MD some summers. He loved camping with his children when they were young at the family’s camp near Youghiogheny Lake, and he continued the camping tradition with his grandchildren for decades near Erie, PA until recently when he could no longer travel. He taught all of his grandchildren to fish, and he would sit with them for hours upon hours patiently. He built a shed in his yard that housed numerous riding vehicles just for his grandchildren when they were young, and he spoiled each one with love and devoted attention. Ron was a retired and proud employee of Port Authority Transit (now called Pgh Regional Transit). He was a volunteer fireman for Baldwin Independent Fire Co. #1 Station 105 for about a decade. He was a member of Saint Albert the Great Church, and his faith helped him to be the extraordinarily kind, patient, and loving person that he was. Although soft spoken, Ron was strong with a witty sense of humor and easily smiled. The love he showed others was boundless, and his earthly presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to the American Cancer Society, Dogs for the Deaf, or Global Foundation for Children with Hearing Loss. The family would like to thank Allegheny Health Network Hospice for their wonderful compassion and care for Ron. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, April 23, 2023 form 3-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Monday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Albert the Great Church at 10:30 a.m.
