Obituary For Rose Marie (Germuska) Kopycinski

Age 90, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, of Baldwin Borough.

Loving wife of 65 years to Walter A. Kopycinski; mother of Gary Walter Kopycinski, Kathleen Ann Doran, Gregory A. Kopycinski, and Kristi (Rick) Sciullo. Grandchildren James Kopycinski, Connor Walter Doran, Ryan Robert Doran, Sarah Rose Doran, Alex Sciullo, and Adam Sciullo cherished her as Nana. She was the great-grandmother of James Kopycinski, Jr., and Kamryn Rose Doran. The children she lovingly babysat over the years, who knew her as Rosie, grew into wonderful adults.

Rose was the daughter of the late Harry and Ann (née Seaman) Germuska; sister of Sr. James Ann O.S.F. and the late Joan Armas, Eileen Chmelewski, and Mary Ann Earhart. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Albert the Great Folk Group and was instrumental in JAL Religious Education and Pre-Cana classes. She took pride in her grandchildren, and her family was of the utmost importance to her.

Friends are welcome at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Wednesday morning at 9:45. Rose was such a blessing to us. She cared for our daughter so I could go to work. We never worried about our daughter while Rose was caring for her because Rose treated her like family. The world is missing one its earthly angels.

Memories of Aunt Rosie along with your dad, are coming back. We often had fun with your family because of your mom and the love she showed all of her nieces and nephews. I remember going to many a drive in movies with your family. It was a fun time and it was a time that mom and dad had to themselves. And I know mom and dad reciprocated for alone time for your parents. It was always fun when we came in to visit when we moved to different towns and cities. Mom made it a priority to visits your parents every time we came in.

We were blessed on an ordinary January day 42 years ago. Rose came into the lives of our little family of 3 and swept us into her family. Not only did she love Kate as her own, she taught a new Mom and Dad how to parent our little "Baby Doll". She didn't limit her care to just the 3 of us; I can remember well her creating a breakfast feastafter mass, for 2 visiting Meiman brothers with hearty appetites! We grieve with all those who loved and were loved by Rosie. Our gratitude for having her friendship and love knows no bounds and Kate & Aimee were especially blessed to have her loving guidance in their earliest years. Rest in peace, Rosie...your love has left a lasting mark on 3 generations of children and many lucky adults.❤️

Ken Danchik and I are thinking of Rose and Walt, your family, and Saint Albert—especially the music ministry. We are sad for your loss, and hope for your consolation and peace. Remembering you fondly.
