Obituary For Rosemary C. (Holland) Tasillo

A long time resident of Whitehall, passed away peacefully in her 94th year on July 31, 2020 with family by her side. Daughter of the late Evelyn (Greeno) and William Holland Sr., and wife of the late Edward J. Tasillo. Beloved mother of Edward (Judy) Tasillo, Ann (Walter) Hirt, and Carol Tasillo. Grandmother of Michael Tasillo and Amy Tasillo. Sister of the late Evelyn Ubinger, Kathleen Kelsky, William Holland, Patricia Kocent, and Maureen Schwarz. Also loved by nieces, nephews, cousins, and neighbors. Known for the sparkle in her eyes, Rosemary was strong and classy with an elegance of her own. One of the South Side Holland girls raised during the depression and WWII, she understood what was truly important; family, friends, faith and a strong work ethic that she passed along to her children. She took great joy in her time with the students at the Duquesne University School of Law. In her final months, she was grateful for the friendships she made at the Residence at Whitehall. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Tuesday August 4, 2020 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral Prayer on Wednesday August 5, 2020 morning at 9:15am. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin at 10:00am. If desired, family suggests contributions to St. Gabriel School.

    My condolences to the Tasillo family. I thought they may enjoy knowing what Rosemary Tasillo was like at Duquesne. I remember at the end of my first year, I did not think anyone in the administration office knew who I was. Shortly after I submitted my course selections for the next year, Mrs. Tasillo tracked me down in the hall and shared information about one of the classes I selected because she was not sure that the section I had selected was the best fit for me. From that point on, I knew that she cared about us. I later heard stories of her kindness to other students. Almost 30 years later, I immediately recognized her photo in the paper.

    Our condolences to our cousins Ed,Carol and Ann...and others who loved Aunt Rosemary. She was a sweet lady.I will always her beautiful face and her soft spoken voice. She was such a wonderful person. We have so many wonderful memories of her and Uncle Eddie.
