Obituary For Rudy "Coach" Musulin

Age 91, peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2022, of the South Side.

Beloved husband of the late Gladys M. Musulin; loving father of Jamie (Robert) Zaremski, Dawn Musulin-Weiss, Gayle Musulin, Wayne Musulin; and the late Rudy Musulin, Jr.; proud Pap of Jessica (Casey) Noderer, Jodi (Ray Rieber) Zaremski, Rudy III (Jen) Musulin, Kristen Weiss, Jesse Musulin and the late Natasha Weiss; great-grandfather of 10; brother of Mary Paulos; predeceased by brothers and sisters. Also survived by brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Rudy was a retired school teacher at Westinghouse High School where he was widely known and respected as a head football coach; Coach Rudy and his teams won 21 city championships. He also spent his summers supervising city pools. Rudy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a founding member of the "66" Card Club. Coach Rudy was beloved and will be missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, April 15, 2022 from 2-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, April 16, 2022 in Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church from 11:30 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at Noon. In lieu of flowers, Coach's family would appreciate you bringing a sporting good (football or basketball) to Rudy's visitation that will be donated in his memory.

    So sorry to learn of Rudy's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family and friends. Rudy was a one of a kind and always enjoyed our time together. Unfortunately we will not be able to attend.

    my sympathies to the family. I am Robert Ray, the Son of Coach Ray aka Bunny Ray, who coached with Rudy, Coach Miller and Coach Costik; and shared in the South Side HS Championship in the 1970s. I look forward to sharing my condolences in person tomorrow. he was a great Man, Mentor, Leader and Coach; who really cared about his students and players whom he coached. God rest his soul.
