It is with deep sorrow that we announce of the early morning passing of our best travel buddy and beloved Mom, Ruth Susan Yeager Rhein. Our precious mother, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, October 16, 2026. Born February 4, 1930, she spent a very full 96 years on this earth! Although Ruth had struggles with cancer, a heart attack, diabetes, and the March 2000 death of her beloved husband, Charles J. Rhein, she was able to overcome these obstacles and led a fun-loving life. Ruth truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Thank you to all who provided the support and love that she needed this past year in helping her deal with her declining health. Ruth was an avid Jeopardy follower, watching most evenings and giving credit to the show for helping her to stay “mentally nimble". She also enjoyed playing cards and table games with friends and family. She had a strong desire to travel. Her most recent trips included Dollywood and Disney World. She also always loved trips to the beach. Ruth was a proud lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Brentwood, PA. She spent many years typing Christian books into Braille and volunteering with Meals On Wheels. Most recently, Ruth helped to “braid” many fleece blankets for assorted charities, even though her eyesight was failing. There are no words that can say how deeply she is loved and will be missed. There will always be that void in our hearts that only she can fill. However, we know that Ruth believed Jesus is her Lord and Savior. Because she received Christ as God's gift of salvation, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is in the presence of God and we will join her one day for all eternity. Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles J. Rhein, parents, Frank J. Yeager, Sr. and Margaret (Behm) Yeager, and brother, Frank J. Yeager, Jr. She will always be deeply loved and missed by her children, Judy Rhein Polczynski (Andy Niedra), Scott Rhein (Lynn) and David Rhein (Gillian), as well as grandchildren, Eric (Katie) Polczynski, Jenna (Matthew) Caflun, Jacob (Avery) Rhein, Alyssa Rhein and Braden (Lenayla) Rhein, and great-grandchildren, Hayley, Brooke and Kara Polczynski and Benjamin Caflun. She will also be missed by her sister, Janet May Brown, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A special thank you to Elsie Roth, her most best friend, who has been there for her through thick and thin. A few hours after learning of Ruth’s passing, we found out that Elsie had also passed away. It’s fun and somewhat consoling to think of them entering the pearly gate of Heaven where they will join loved ones who have gone before them. What a joyful time for them! We never get enough time here on earth with those we love, but we can have the assurance of eternity with them by receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior! Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood 15227, on Sunday, October 25, 2026 from 2-6 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday morning at Concordia Lutheran Church in Brentwood at 10:30.
