Born January 3, 1934, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Ljubomir "Mike" Popovitch; sister to the late Vera Maksimovic; aunt to Dan Maksimovich and the late Helen Maksimovic. As a child growing up in a small town outside of Belgrade, Serbia along with her mother and sister, she witnessed the town's occupation by the Nazis. Her father, Krsto, was a highly decorated WW1 Veteran, a member of the Kings Royal Guard and was also a WW2 prisoner of war who later moved to the U.S. in the 1950's. Rose came to the US in 1960 to be with her father whom she hadn't seen in many years. She worked various librarian/clerical positions prior to completing her formal studies at the University of Pittsburgh in Slavic Languages. She then went on to become a Russian Languages Translator. Rose proudly became a naturalized US citizen in 1965. She met her future husband Mike through friends and was married in 1975 in Tarrytown, NY where they lived until the mid-eighties when they moved to Pittsburgh to be closer to family. Her husband was an engineer who retired early which allowed them to travel to many parts of Europe. They also enjoyed visiting the many US and Canadian Nationl Parks and frequently drove across the country to their summer home in Gig Harbor, Washington. Rose will be buried in Gig Harbor, Washington along side her husband. There will not be any visitation nor services. Contact Us to have your link and message added here.
