Obituary For Samuel Tatomir

Samuel Tatomir, a life-long resident of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

Born in Coverdale on March 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Spiro and Mary Tatomir. Sam graduated in 1953 from Bethel Park High School.

Sam spent 42 rewarding years working as a supervisor of the Help Desk at US Steel Muriel Street Facility on the South Side. Following a three-month "retirement", Sam returned to work in the bag room at the South Hills Country Club. He worked at SHCC for 25 years until the time of his passing. He proudly served our United States Army.

Sam enjoyed long-time memberships to the Jugoslav Club, where his father was a founding member and steward, and the Bethel Park Sportsman's Club. He had a wide circle of friends with whom he often socialized.

Sam married his beloved wife of 60 years, Reland (Hamilton) Tatomir, on September 9, 1961. She preceded him in death on August 17, 2021.

Sam is survived by his loving family - son, Daniel, wife Shannon, and grandchildren Liam, Aidan and Maura of Mt. Lebanon; daughter, Jennifer Passarelli, husband Luca, and grandchildren Emmaline and Samuel of Neshannock Township. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Baldauf, husband Jack, and four nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Sam's name to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, 800 Waterfront Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

A private service will be held at a later time. Burial will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Arrangements handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227.

Also, we had dinner together on the first Tuesday of the Month at Michaels on the South Side. I always enjoyed our conversations in person and on the telephone. My sincere condolences on the passing of your father. As a member of the Bethel Park Outdoorsmen club, I have many memories of Sam thru the years. He and my father were friends, and I spent many days at club meetings and events with him. May God grant you peace and comfort in this time of grief. Celebrate his full life more than mourn his passing.
