Obituary For Sister Lillian Yurksaitis, OSF

Sister Lillian Yurksaitis, a Sister of St. Francis of the Providence of God for 67 years, died on October 3, 2021 at the age of 89. Born February 20, 1932 in Bridgeport CT, she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Joseph, Raymond and Albert. She is survived by her community, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God, her brother Vincent (Greta) Yurksaitis and several nieces and nephews.

After teaching primary grades for 20 years in Pittsburgh and Grand Rapids Sister Lillian served in the congregation’s mission in Sao Paulo, Brazil for three years. Upon her return Sister Lillian volunteered at two women’s shelters, one in Wilmington Delaware and Bethlehem Haven in Pittsburgh. Returning to the motherhouse in 1994, she was Assistant to the Campus Administrator and provided community services especially using her computer skills. In 2014 Sister Lillian was among the first sisters missioned to Westminster Place of Presbyterian SeniorCare in Oakmont.

Friends will be received at John Slater Funeral Home, 4201 Brownsville Rd, Pittsburgh PA 15227 Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 4-7 p.m.; prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, 11:00 a.m., Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Germaine Church, 7003 Baptist Rd. Bethel Park, PA 15102.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God, 3757 Library Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15234.
