Sister Mary Irene Pacekonis, OSF Sister Mary Irene Pacekonis, 94, Sister of St. Francis of the Providence of God for 78 years, died on Dec. 27, 2017. Born Jan. 31, 1923 in Hartford CT, she was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings. She is survived by her sister Jean Lombard, nieces and a nephew.

Sister was an educator and principal for 43 years primarily at St. Gabriel and St. Valentine. Filled with a missionary spirit Sister Irene served in Brazil for 12 years and the Franciscan Child Day Care Center for 7 years.

Friends will be received at John Slater Funeral Home, 4201 Brownsville Rd, Pittsburgh PA 15227 on Thursday, December 28 from 3:00-6:00 pm, wake service at 4:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on December 29 at 10:30 am at St. Germaine Church, 7003 Baptist Rd. Bethel Park PA 15102
