Obituary For Sister Miriam Racas, OSF

Sister of St. Francis of the Providence of God for 81 years, died on Monday, May 16, 2022 at age 97. Born April 6, 1925 in Detroit MI she was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.

Sister Miriam was an excellent educator and principal for over 50 years. She served as a missionary in Lithuania, Dietary Manager at the Franciscan Spirit and Life Center, a Child Care Worker at Covenant House in NYC and volunteered in various ministries. In her retirement, she served as Receptionist Coordinator at the Motherhouse. In 2016 Sister Miriam began her Ministry of Prayer and Presence at Westminster Place, Oakmont.

Friends will be received at John Slater Funeral Home, 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh PA 15227 on Thursday, May 19, 2022, 3-7 p.m., wake service at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022, 10:30 a.m., Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Germaine Church, 7003 Baptist Rd. Bethel Park, PA 15102.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God, 5802 Curry Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
