Steve was my neighbor and my friend. We had a few meals together and he was always there to lend an ear to talk. We even went to church together a couple times. He will be sorely missed. He was a very good man. My God rest his soul and I extend my condolences and prayers to him and his family. ~Ron Kalin

If it had not been for Uncle Steve, my siblings and I, our spouses and children, would not exist. But for a chance meeting, and friendship, that developed between Uncle Steve and Joe F. Frybert, Uncle Steve â??introducedâ?? our Mom, his sister, Katherine Novak, to our Dad. Uncle Steve and our Dad, Joe, became great friends while in basic training at Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Texas, during the Korean War. Uncle Steve was part of our parentsâ?? wedding party in 1955, and later, he would be listed on my baptismal certificate as my godfather. We are fortunate that Steve and Dad shared similarities like European immigrant parents, a strong Catholic identity and upbringing, and being US Army recruits during the Korean War. We may not have seen Steve for years, but I always have felt that he helped change life for many people, and I am grateful. May Uncle Steveâ??s soul, and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, Rest In Peace, AMEN.
