Susan Elizabeth Lazar (Valentine) passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was 79 years old.

Born on January 22, 1947 in Baldwin PA, Susan lived a life marked by quiet strength, kindness, and deep devotion to the people she loved. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Lazar; her parents, Leonard and Elizabeth “Libby” Valentine; and her brothers, Richard and David Valentine.

Susan leaves behind her loving family, including her sister-in-law Patricia Lazar of Woburn, MA; her nephew Kevin Dougherty and his wife Beth of Philadelphia, PA; her nieces Coleen McAdam and her husband Scott of Marblehead, MA and Kelly Dougherty of South Burlington, VT; and her great-nieces and great-nephews Cara and Emily McAdam, Jonah Sayler, and Matthew Dougherty.

Susan will be remembered for her courage, warmth, resilience, and her dedication to her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. where a blessing service will be held at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon to immediately follow. Interment will be private.
