Obituary For Terry Wayne Hoff

Terry Wayne Hoff, Sr., age 82, of Brentwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026. Beloved husband of 45 years to the late Andrea P. Hoff. Loving father of Terrence W. "T.J." (Katie) Hoff, Jr., Matthew N. Hoff, and Jennifer Balson. Step Father of Gary (Rocio) Hall, Jr. and the late Greg and Stephen Hall. Brother of Harry (Sharon) Hoff. Terry Hoff was a man who left his mark not just on buildings, but on people. A happy soul with an easygoing nature, he made friends wherever life took him. Whether he was stepping into a new town, a job site, or a room full of strangers, he had a way of making himself known and loved. His smile, his words, and his presence stayed with people long after he moved on. A lifelong tradesman, Terry worked with his hands and his heart. His craftsmanship lives on throughout Pittsburgh and its surrounding areas— walls smoothed by his plaster, structures shaped by his skill, and homes made better because he had been there. His work stands as a quiet testament to his dedication, pride, and work ethic. Even now, pieces of his life remain embedded in the city he helped build. Terry’s greatest legacy lives on through his sons. He passed down not only the knowledge of working with one’s hands, but also the values that truly matter—kindness, patience, humor, and an appreciation for honest work. His happy demeanor and easygoing spirit are clearly reflected in his children. One carries forward his craftsmanship and skill, the other his wisdom and approach to life. Together, they carry his qualities forward. Terry lived with joy, worked with purpose, and loved deeply. He passed peacefully, and we take comfort in knowing he is now with God and reunited with those he loved and lost before him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on in the lives he touched, the work he left behind, and the family who will always carry his name. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, PA 15227 on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A Blessing Service will be held at 2:00 p.m.

Our family will miss Terry tremendously. We always looked forward to seeing his smile and a "howdy neighbor" greeting when ever we were in the yard or walking past the house. There was always an invite to come over for a visit. So much so that he wanted to remove a portion of his fence so we could just be steps away instead of walking all the way around our property. I sat with him many of times but the most enjoyable was on his front and back porch. He always had a great story to share and of course, a song. Terry had a great voice which had Frank Sinatra type tones. I enjoyed having both he and my great friend Andrea as my neighbors, they were truly the essence of what great neighbors represented.
