About 11 years ago, I was a late beginner to the world of poker when I went to the Colorado Belle in Laughlin, NV for the first time.  I did not know anyone there, but quickly realized who was undeniably the "the Captain of the room."  I thought I could play poker, but soon learned that you weren't a poker player until Tom Smith said you were a poker player. His bellowing voice, constant tongue in cheek rants about never winning a hand, infectious sense of humor, and depth of knowledge on sports, world affairs, and many other topics made Tom both very interesting and entertaining.   Even more important, Tom knew how to treat people.  If you earned his friendship, and you had to earn it, Tom would be very generous and supportive.  Believe me, I know of several situations wherein Tom exceeded normal expectations in providing support and assistance to a friend in need.  Tom, you are indeed special and I am so grateful that we became very good friends. God bless you and all of your family. Joe Glynn
