Age 99 of Baldwin, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020, beloved husband of Irene Graham Sutter. Also survived by brother Richard (Helen) Sutter of Sarasota, daughters Barbara Bardo of South Park, Diane (Alexandra) Sutter of Worcester, MA, Mary (Doug) Beck of Coraopolis, PA, sons Mark (Aileen) Sutter of Chapel Hill, NC, Tim (Michelle) Graham of Pittsburgh, PA, and Eric (Laurie) Graham of Austin, Texas, 11 grandchildren, Charlotte Graham, Stanley Graham, Zac Graham, Prescott Sutter, Weston Sutter, Andrew Beck, Amanda Sutter, Elizabeth Beck, Zoe Graham, Adam Sutter, and Aiden Beck, sister-in-law Mary Lou Krieger, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by parents Thomas and Mary Sutter, brother William, sisters Margaret and Jeanne, and late wife Florence (Dolly) Sutter. A veteran of WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps. Later, he had a distinguished career with the Bettis Atomic Power Plant as an engineer, author of manuals for the operation of nuclear submarines, and teacher of naval submarine crews. In service to his community, Mr. Sutter was a board member of the St. Peter's Child Development Center and a past president of Brentwood-Whitehall Kiwanis. He was an avid bird watcher and nature lover and could often be found on his screened-in porch, enjoying the gifts of the natural world. He also was a world traveler with his wife Irene, avid theater goer, reader, gardener, and wood worker. Many family and friends have been gifted by his bird houses and feeders. Tom Sutter was a kind, gentle soul who was the best role model on how to live one's life with joy and compassion. His motto was "Lucky Me!" but we, his family and friends, were the lucky ones to have his presence in our lives. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Arrangements made by John F Slater Funeral Home, Inc 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd, Brentwood 15227. Funeral Services will be private. If desired, the family suggests contributions to The Nature Conservancy at nature.org.

I was very sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He was one of the people I learned a lot from when I first started working at Bettis back in 1979. He will be missed.
