March 23, 1920 - September 17, 2017

Gollings, Thomas H.

Age 97, of Whitehall, died peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Asbury Heights. Survived by his wife of 75 years Pearl Hutchin Gollings; their children Kathleen Gollings Jackman (Jim) of Woodbridge, VA and David Gollings (Eunice) of Brentwood. Grandfather of Kevin Gollings (Shae), Timothy Gollings, Kristin Jackman Holmes (Matthew), Suzanne Jackman Shipe (James); great-grand children Ryann, Nathan, Rowen, Garrett, Brady, Owen and Maslynn. He was a WWII Navy veteran. Tom grew up in Mt. Oliver and was a fireman and police officer there after the war. He worked for the US Post Office for 38 years, primarily as a mail carrier in Brentwood, retiring in 1977. He also worked part-time for 30 years at Sternbergers Paints. Everyone in the area knew him. Tom shared his love for God everywhere he went and to everyone he spoke to. He truly was a man after God's own heart. Per Tom's request, there will be no visitations but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227.

As neighbors of Tom and Pearl at the Maiden Bridge Apartments we always found him to be the man with a smile on his face and the warmest hellos. He knew how to brighten every day. Our deepest sympathy to Pearl and the members of Tom's family. Mary and Tom Brennen Apt. 512
