Obituary For Thomas McGinley

Age 91, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025 after a brief illness.

Beloved husband of Dorothy McGinley; father of his dearly loved children, Mary Eileen (Joseph) Schnippert, Kathleen (Daniel) Westover, Thomas McGinley (Denise Crooks), John Francis (Laura) McGinley, Trisha (Jeff) Kirby and the late David, Christopher and Michael McGinley; cherished grandfather of his beloved grandchildren, Timothy Schnippert, Daniel (Kristara) Schnippert, Patrick Schnippert, Scott Westover (Samantha Lambie), Christopher Westover, Kate McGinley, John McGinley, Madeline Kirby (Stephen Page), Jay (Lindsey) Kirby and Henry Kirby; great-grandfather of his dearly loved great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Schnippert and Caroline Schnippert. Funeral services were held privately. Arrangements handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrance contributions to Baldwin Independent Fire Company #1, 3049 Churchview Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15227 or a charity of your choice.

    I recall fond memories of Mr. McGinley as a child growing up. My 3 sisters and I grew up as next door neighbor friends to Mary Eileen and her siblings. Mr. and Mrs. McGinley were so sweet and nothing but nice to us! I have such fond childhood memories of him and his family!

    So very sorry for your loss. We all will miss seeing Tom with Gus everyday. He would always stop over so Gus could visit his girlfriend Abby. His gentle nature and wit will be greatly missed. Condolences to Dorothy & his family.

    Tim and I always enjoyed running into Tom and Gus. Tom was always upbeat, genuine and so interesting to talk with. We wish our sincere sympathy to Dorothy and all of his family.
