Obituary For Thomas N. Hoydick

Age 85, of Baldwin, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

Beloved husband of 56 years to Rita (Elias); fun-loving dad of Michael (Michelle Garfold) Hoydick, David (Kristi) Hoydick, Lisa (Rob) Halsaver and Karen (Justin) Rent; Gramps of Alexandra, Ben (Nicole), Brendan (Jackie), Hannah, Jordan, Luke, Mason, Molly, Eli, Shawn and Ava; Great-Gramps of Lilly; son of the late Paul and Justina Hoydich; brother of the late Paul (Anna), Mary (George) and Nina. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom had an eclectic taste in music that he loved to share with anyone. He proudly worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 61 years. Tom was a devoted family man who loved whistling, gadgets, sweets, Eat 'n Park, road trips and taking walks with a cup of coffee in his hand. "It's not the amount of breaths in your life, it's the amount of life in your breaths." Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 2-8 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Chapel on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at noon. In lieu of flowers, Tom would love for you to take a vacation.

    Tom was a very nice and capable man who knew his craft as an Air traffic controller very well. He helped me get my start in the FAA in 1988 as he worked both as a controller and in Training. I will be forever grateful. Prayers and condolences to his Family and friends. Johnny Edwards
